In the News: Miramar Fire-Rescue

Scot Metcalf

Miramar Fire-Rescue is located in Florida, between Ft. Lauderdale and Miami, and they serve a population of over 130,000 people. As the Regional Account Manager for Florida, I have the good fortune to be their account manager and to hear about their success.

Miramar Fire-Rescue was actually one of the first agencies in the country to use electronic mobile reporting when they started the practices in the 1990s. But by 2014, they had outgrown their existing ePCR software and it was time to move to a more intuitive and easy-to-use solution. That’s when, after seeing it at a trade show, they switched to ESO Electronic Health Record (EHR) and added Health Data Exchange (HDE). Battalion Chief Frank Vrklan recently told EMS1.com they specifically liked that EHR is cloud-based which eliminates the hassle of in-house servers.

They’ve also been pleased with the ability to get patient data back from the hospital through HDE. Vrklan told EMS1.com “Our crews think it’s pretty cool to be able to follow up electronically on diagnoses and outcomes. That feedback is helpful, especially on critical cases. It’s much easier than trying to find a nurse or doctor who knows what happened with a particular patient.”

I love hearing stories like this from our customers. It’s the best part of being an ESO account manager. You can read Miramar Fire-Rescue’s whole story on EMS1.com. And if you are interested in how ESO can help your agency, check out our website or drop us a line.
